Students, parents, and staff of the Shawano School District who were concerned with the prospect of not having a spring break, can breath a sigh of relief.
District Administrator Gary Cumberland said that the majority of feedback he received from a survey on spring break was to continue having a full week. That survey from earlier this month gauged parents and staff’s thoughts on possibly doing away with the full week and having extended weekends throughout the year. Cumberland said parent work schedules made the week off for spring break difficult for some.
Other ideas were even floated about keeping the full week and also having extended weekends. Cumberland said that would have been difficult because school cannot start until the first week of September and the school board wants a full week of in between the end of the school year and the first week of summer school.
Cumberland told TCHDailyNews.com that while no official decision will be made on the matter at tonight’s school board meeting, he will let the know board know about the feedback and that next school years calendar will reflect that.
