A local shelter for domestic violence victims is asking the community for help. Safe Haven has existed for the past 15 years, but it says it just cannot operate any longer in its current space because it has outgrown it. Right now, there are five bedrooms at the facility on Lakeland Road. Safe Haven says it has drawn up plans for a three bedroom extension. The plans also call for more office space. Director Stacey Cicero says there would also be some money for technology upgrades, a security system and a new roof. However, the facility needs 425-thousand dollars to get all this done. Cicero hopes to have a groundbreaking sometime next spring.
