An 18-year-old maleĀ from Texas suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck and trailer on State Highway 55 and County Highway EE in Outagamie County Tuesday morning.
The accident happened just before 10 a.m. and witnesses say the 18-year-old stopped at a stop sign before pulling out in front of the semi. A press release states that he was trapped and needed to be extracted by the Oneida Fire Department before being flown to a nearby hospital.
The semi driver, a 29-year-old man from Algoma, was not injured.
Outagamie County Sheriff’s Officials say that both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Emergency crews had the road shut down for two-and-a-half hours and remains under investigation.
