The Oconto Falls City Council voted 4-2 in favor of no longer adding fluoride to the water supply in the city. The issue had mixed responses with many wanting fluoride to improve the community’s oral health. It is expected that the city will save around $13,500 a year by not adding fluoride.
A petition has been circulating to bring the use of fluoride in the city water back again, but residents were told that the city is basically adding Hydro caloric Acid to the water. Greg Kuhn, the Oconto Falls Utility Manger said the other reason they want to discontinue using fluoride in the water is that it is bad for the pipes.
