Nancy M. Shauger, age 75, of Marion passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.
The former Nancy Mae Wegner was born on November 29, 1941 in Clintonville to Elmer and Adeline (Krieser) Wegner. She grew up in the Marion area where she attended grade school at Lake Michael School and next went on to graduate as Salutatorian from Marion High School in 1959. Following high school, Nancy went to Deaconess Nursing School in Milwaukee receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. After college, she lived and worked for a short time at a doctor’s office in Casper, WY. Nancy returned to home and started as a RN at the Clintonville Community Hospital. She was united in marriage on May 2, 1965 to Clement A. Shauger at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont. Nancy worked for many years at the Clintonville hospital until it’s closing in the early 1990’s. She was employed at the hospital in New London and Shawano. Nancy settled at Shawano Medical Center where she continued her career as a RN until retiring in 2004.
Nancy is a former member of the United Methodist Church, Marion, where she was active in numerous projects and served as a Church Treasurer for some time. Currently she is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. Her interests included working in her flower and vegetable gardens, canning lots of what she grew, and raising chickens for the family for many years. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed romance novels and several magazines. Nancy was always very thrifty and watched the newspaper ads for all the grocery store specials. She liked to volunteer locally at the “House of Hope” and with the Marion Food Pantry. Her generosity and kindness to help others was often evident.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Clem; and three children, Todd Shauger of Neenah, Larry Shauger of Clintonville, and Jessica (Mick) Beechy of Marion. There are six grandchildren, Rebecca Shauger; Brady, Layton, and Lucas Shauger; and Branden and Brittany Beechy. There are four siblings; Barb (Keith) Knapp of Combined Locks, Sally (Al) Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Kathryn (Bob) Krzystan of Severna Park, MD, and James “Rick” (Debbie) Wegner of Marion. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Jack Shauger of Marion, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law Lynn Shauger, and a sister-in-law Margaret Shauger.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 28th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, with Pastor Lois Graper officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, is assisting with the arrangements.
