Gillett Parade Marshals Represent What Makes the City Great
Mary and Cliff Gerbers were selected as marshals for the Gillett parade. The couple has been a integral part of the Gillett community over the past 40 years.
The Gerbers’ have been charter members of the Gillett Jaycees Club and the Civic Club while being active members of the St. John’s Catholic Church where Cliff teaches catechism.
Cliff also is serving his 12th three-year term on the Gillett School Board, which began in 1983. Although they are not natives of Gillett, Mary and Cliff have made the city their home and an impact in the community.
Bonduel Marshal a Decorated Veteran
This year’s Bonduel parade marshal is William “Bill” Kuhnke, a decorated U.S. Army Airborne Corps veteran for 14 years, who was wounded in Vietnam.
Kuhnke was a highly skilled shooter while attending mountain training school in Japan. He made the 3rd Army team and the 101st Airborne rifle team, receiving a silver and two bronze badges for Excellency in Competition in team marksmanship.
He was injured in Vietnam while on a search-and-clear mission and was shot twice by a sniper.
Kuhnke was discharged from the Army in December of 1966. He receieved a Purple Heart, Expert Infantryman Badge and Master Parachutist Badge, along with other honors.
Kuhnke is a member of the Bonduel American Legion Post 217 and lives with his wife in Navarino.
