The Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce held their annual golf outing Tuesday at Shawano Lake Golf Course. There were 27 teams that hit the links in what could be described as perfect conditions.
“It’s just been a perfect day. The sun’s out, little bit of breeze. Somehow we got really, really lucky, so we’ve all been living right I think to get such a great day,” said Shawano Country Chamber Executive Nancy Smith. “People are having a great time, great food, great course.”
This year featured a tailgate theme, which invited golfers a chance to support their favorite sports team. A team from the Shawano Rotary Club decked out their cart in true Wisconsin fashion.
“We are Rodgers Rotarians, so we’ve got the number one foam finger I guess in green and yellow,” Rotary President Chris Marcks explained of her team’s cart. “We’ve got a miniature corn hole game that says ‘Go Pack Go’ complete with mini corn bags and we have a mini beer pong game setup going. Of course we’ve got chips and salsa strapped down to one side of the cart and a cooler on the other. No golf cart tailgate would be complete without a bobblehead Aaron Rodgers, which we do indeed have.”
Rotary Club was one of many appropriately themed carts, included the group representing Neuske’s Applewood Smoked Meat, who came dressed as “The Essentials,” complete with ketchup mustard and grill.
The purpose of the annual golf outing is not only to have fun, but serves as a fundraiser for the chamber with raffles and a dinner that was held after.
The stations of Results Broadcasting also sponsored hole 13 and offered golfers a chance to try their hand at a football toss. Members had the opportunity to win prizes such as t-shirts, Brewers and LPGA tickets, pint glasses, among other items.
