On Tuesday, the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual golf outing on Shawano Lake Golf Course, beginning at 11 a.m. Chamber Executive Director Nancy Smith explains this year they’re holding a tailgate party theme.
“Get out your Badger apparel, your Packer apparel, whatever team you cheer for, get that out,” Smith recommended. “We even encourage them to decorate their cart and we give out awards for best decorated cart, best dressed individual and team, so we always get a lot of people who like participating in that.”
According to Smith, about 27 teams have signed up, along with about 40 sponsors, but one factor remains an unknown.
“We just need the weather to cooperate, so we’re praying for good weather Tuesday,” said Smith. “We promise to have a lot good beverages and food on the course, which is a wonderful course. Then we have a wonderful banquet afterwards, lots of raffle prizes, so our members look forward to this every year.”
The annual outing serves a two-fold purpose, a chance for chamber members to have fun, while also raising money for the chamber.
“It helps us raise money that we use in our programs we provide to our members throughout the year. We don’t have a lot of fundraisers. A lot of our support comes through our memberships and through sponsorship.”
