
Friday afternoon a jury found 32-year-old Jeffrey VanArk of New London guilty of first-degree reckless homicide in the drug overdose death of Brandon Shadduck in 2014.
According to the criminal complaint, authorities responded to a welfare check of Shadduck after he had not been heard from in some time, when they found him dead in his apartment. A toxicology report revealed that he had died due to an overdose of methadone.
Prosecutors say that text messages between proveĀ VanArk was planning to meet up with Shadduck to sell him methadone in order to pay his rent. Shadduck was accused of receiving the methadone from a local Fox Valley Clinic.
The jury reportedly deliberated for just under two hours before reaching their verdict.
VanArk will be held at the Outagamie County JailĀ and sentencing is scheduled for June 8.
