
David R. Schmidt, age 79 of Clintonville, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.
David Ray Schmidt was born November 7, 1946 in New London, WI, son to the late Jerome “Jack” & Phyllis (Klaeser) Schmidt. He attended Manawa High School and after graduation, studied at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. David worked as an auditor at the Social Security Administration in Chicago for 31 years until he decided to retire early to move back to the area to provide care for his parents. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors on his family’s land, where deer hunting was a long-standing tradition. He also loved to fish at their cabin up north; a place where many great memories were made with his nieces and nephew. Almost every moment of his spare time was spent volunteering with the good people at the Clintonville Area Food Pantry.
David is survived by his:
Sister: Sandra (Robert) Miller
Nephew and Nieces : Steven (Marina) Miller, Susan (Nick) Ohlsson, & Nanci (Scott) Foster
Great-nieces & nephew: Shelby (Arik Wolk) Foster, Lily Miller & Hunter (Aubree) Foster
Great-great niece and nephew: Frankie Foster & Miller Foster
His bonus families at both the Clintonville Area Food Pantry and the Compassionate Connections Center; along with other extended family and community members
David was preceded in death by his parents and many extended family members.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 – 3 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, North Location. (53 N. Main St. Clintonville, WI 54929).
As per David’s wishes, his cremated remains are to be scattered privately on the family land.
