SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – Drivers traveling between Shawano and Bonduel now have another route available as County Road BE has reopened following a repaving project.
The roadway had been closed while crews completed paving work, but its reopening comes as welcome news for motorists navigating ongoing construction along Highway 29. County Road BE has served as a popular alternate route for drivers seeking to avoid lane restrictions, ramp closures and traffic delays between the two communities.
While the reopening eases some travel concerns, significant work remains underway on Highway 29. Construction crews continue making concrete repairs, replacing guardrails and completing shoulder improvements on multiple sections of the highway throughout Shawano County.
Transportation officials are reminding motorists to remain alert in work zones and to expect lane closures, reduced speed limits and changing traffic patterns as the project progresses.
The Highway 29 improvements are part of several major transportation projects taking place across the region this construction season. Work also continues on Highway 22 near Cecil, where reconstruction efforts have impacted local traffic patterns.
Officials say drivers should plan ahead, allow extra travel time and remain patient as crews work to complete the projects safely. Several of the highway improvement projects are expected to continue through the summer months and into the fall before reaching completion.
With County Road BE once again open to traffic, motorists have an additional option for traveling between Shawano and Bonduel while construction continues on one of the area’s busiest highways.
