Several coaches with ties to the area are being recognized as the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association updates its all-time boys basketball coaching records following the 2025-26 season.
Among the most notable names locally is Jon Murphy, who spent years leading programs at Seymour and Kimberly, ranking third all-time with an impressive 668 career wins. The list also includes former Clintonville coach Carl Bruggink, who sits in the top 15 with 549 wins, and longtime Pulaski coach Fred Kestly, who amassed 543 victories during his career.
Other familiar names for area fans include Tony Fiore, who coached at Crivitz as part of his career, and Fred Suchy, who had a coaching stop in Shawano and ranks among the state’s all-time winningest coaches.
Statewide, longtime Blair-Taylor coach Randy Storlie has moved into second place all-time, while Cuba City’s Jerry Petitgoue remains the winningest coach in state history with more than 1,000 career victories.
GIRLS
Among those with strong area connections is Jeff Chew, who has coached at Saint Mary Catholic and Hortonville, cracking the top ten all-time after leading his team to a Division 4 state tournament appearance this season. Fox Valley Lutheran’s David Wenzel also appears on the list, ranking among the state’s top coaches with more than 500 career wins.
At the top of the list, Barneveld’s Jim Myers continues to lead all coaches after becoming the state’s all-time winningest coach last year, adding to his total with another strong season and a state tournament appearance.
