SHAWANO, WI – The upcoming Mountain Bay Trail anniversary celebration will focus on the trail’s origins and its lasting impact on the community.
Donna Hobscheid with the Friends of the Mountain Bay Trail says the event will reflect on how the trail was created. “Through the Rails-to-Trails initiative, transforming the former Chicago and Northwestern Railway corridor from Pulaski to Eland into the trail used today.”
The celebration will take place at the Shawano County Park Pavilion and is free for the public, with food, activities, and opportunities to learn more about the trail’s history.
Organizers say the event will also feature speakers who were involved in the trail’s early development, including Johnny Yoder and Steve Charlier.
Special guests will include Scoutmaster Steve Nelson of Boy Scout Troop 445, recognized for work on trail bridges, and Seth Taft with the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks.
