SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – Shawano County supervisors have approved changes to the structure of the county’s ethics committee in an effort to prevent potential conflicts of interest.
Under the new plan, the committee will consist of five residents and one alternate, removing county officials from serving on the panel.
Members will be appointed by the county board chairman and approved by the full board, with staggered three-year terms to ensure continuity.
The move follows a series of complaints over the past year involving the committee’s leadership.
County officials say the changes are intended to create a more independent and balanced committee moving forward.
