OCONTO COUNTY, WI – Oconto County District Attorney Hannah Schuchart has been appointed as the county’s next judge by Governor Tony Evers.
Schuchart will fill the vacancy left by Judge Michael Judge, who is set to retire on May 1st. Her term on the bench will run through July 31st of 2027.
She has served as Oconto County’s district attorney since 2022 and brings a well-rounded legal background to the position, including experience as both a prosecutor and a public defender in the region.
State officials say Schuchart’s experience in multiple areas of the legal system will help her transition into the role and serve the community effectively.
With Schuchart moving into the judgeship, the process will now begin to appoint her successor as district attorney in Oconto County.
