NEW LONDON, WI – There’s a new face at City Hall, as Karolanne Lehman has officially stepped into the role of New London City Clerk.
City Administrator Chad Hoerth says Lehman was a strong choice for the position, pointing to her background in municipal work and law enforcement, including experience with Fox Crossing and other communities. “This is her first clerk job, so we’re excited to get her on board,” Hoerth said, also noting her service in the Army National Guard as another strength she brings to the role.
Lehman began her position this week, with her first day focused on training and getting familiar with city operations. As clerk, Hoerth says she will quickly take on several critical responsibilities, including overseeing elections and managing licensing requirements. “A common one is the election process, there’s tons of information, setup, and oversight involved,” he said. “The next would probably be licensing, like alcohol licenses, which are governed by state statutes.”
In addition to those duties, Lehman will be responsible for maintaining official city records, preparing agendas and meeting minutes, and handling open records requests. City officials say they are confident Lehman’s experience and background will help ensure a smooth transition into the role.
