5 Champions were crowned on Saturday down in Madison for the 110th annual WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament!
Division 5
Reedsville captured the WIAA Division 5 state championship Saturday morning at the Kohl Center, pulling away late for a 56-48 win over Southwestern. In a tightly contested first half featuring 10 lead changes, Reedsville took a narrow 35-33 advantage into the break before tightening up defensively in the second half.
Arden Strenn led the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Ben Prochnow added 19 points and eight assists to pace the Panthers. Southwestern stayed within striking distance thanks to 13 points each from Remi Lawrence, Aiden Keleher, and Cayden DeMuth, but the Wildcats went cold after halftime, shooting just 7-for-27 from the field and missing all 12 of their three-point attempts in the second half.
Reedsville sealed the title at the free-throw line in the closing minutes, finishing off a championship performance with strong rebounding, transition play, and clutch execution down the stretch.
Division 4
Milwaukee Juneau rallied from a halftime deficit to beat Cambridge 62-54 in the WIAA Division 4 state championship game at the Kohl Center. Cambridge led 32-30 at the break after a back-and-forth first half, but Juneau took control after halftime by outscoring the Blue Jays 32-22.
Dooney Johnson led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and four blocks, while Jaden Hardiman added 17 points for Juneau.
Cambridge was paced by Jett Horton’s 14 points and Evan Harbort’s 11, but the Blue Jays shot just 33 percent in the second half as Juneau pulled away late to claim the gold ball.
Division 3
Division 2
Whitefish Bay dominated the WIAA Division 2 state championship game, rolling past Slinger 77-46 at the Kohl Center. The Blue Dukes set the tone early with a 28-16 halftime lead, then poured in 49 second-half points to turn it into a runaway.
Jack Broderson led Whitefish Bay with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Colin Julien added 14 and Marcus Webb chipped in 13 in a balanced, efficient attack.
Slinger struggled to find its rhythm offensively, shooting just under 28 percent from the field and 5-for-33 from three-point range as Whitefish Bay pulled away for the state title.
Division 1
Wisconsin Lutheran pulled away in the second half to defeat Madison Memorial 57-37 in the WIAA Division 1 state championship game at the Kohl Center.
Memorial led 22-20 at halftime, but Wisconsin Lutheran dominated after the break, outscoring the Spartans 37-15 behind a blistering 75 percent shooting performance in the second half. Zavier Zens scored 20 points and Kager Knueppel added 16, while Kinston Knueppel and Jamail Sewell helped anchor a balanced Vikings attack.
Madison Memorial never recovered from the cold second half, shooting just 5-for-24 after halftime as Wisconsin Lutheran closed out the state title in convincing fashion.
