SHAWANO, WI – Cleanup efforts are ongoing across the city of Shawano after last weekend’s heavy snowfall, with crews expected to spend much of the week hauling and relocating snow.
Public Works Director Michael Mahloch says crews are using a multi-step process to clear sidewalks and roadways. That includes pulling snow from sidewalks into the street, where graders and large snow blowers are used to load it into dump trucks before being hauled to a designated snow dump site.
Mahloch says the sheer volume of snow has made the process more time-consuming, with crews working to keep roads clear while also managing large accumulations throughout the city.
In addition to street work, the department is also monitoring city parking lots, many of which now have significant snow piles. Mahloch says crews will begin removing those piles as time allows in the coming days.
Officials say residents should expect continued snow removal operations throughout the week and are encouraged to remain patient as crews work through the cleanup.
