Maxine “Mackie” K. Graetz, age 82 of the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County passed away Wednesday morning March 11, 2026 at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville.
Maxine Kay Boreen was born on May 23, 1943 in Tigerton as the daughter of the late John and Clara (Hartleben) Boreen. She graduated from Tigerton High School in 1961 where she enjoyed playing bass clarinet in the school band. Maxine met Gordon Graetz and the couple were united in marriage on July 28, 1962 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Morris, Shawano County. The couple were members of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville prior to joining Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the Town of Pella, Shawano County. Maxine was focused on her Lord and taught Sunday School for many years. She was always looking for ways to help with Missions that were spreading God’s Word in Pakistan and as a writer enjoyed writing religious poetry every week. Maxine also served her community as past President of Waupaca County ARC. She was a wonderful homemaker but also enjoyed her years of waitressing at Geno’s and Grimm’s among other establishments in the area. Maxine was a big fan of taking pictures which came in handy on the many vacations she took with Gordon. Some of her favorite places to visit were Hawaii, Alaska, and their repeated trips to Daytona, FL. Maxine was a giving person and used her talents to crochet prayer shawls and infant hats for those in need. She loved her family deeply and would light up whenever she got time to spend with her grandchildren.
Survivors include: Her Husband: Gordon.
Children: Todd, Tracey, and Chris (Jean) Graetz.
5 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, and a half-sister Verna.
Also numerous other relatives and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents, a sister Vivian Koepke, and a number of half-siblings.
Maxine’s memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the Town of Pella, Shawano County with Rev. Lois Graper officiating. Inurnment will take place later in the spring at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by Maxine’s family.
