NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Drivers across Northeast Wisconsin can expect several highway construction projects in 2026, with work scheduled in Oconto, Brown, and Outagamie counties.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, construction will continue on the I-41 expansion project, impacting several interchanges between Appleton and De Pere in Brown and Outagamie counties. Officials say the project will include ongoing roadway and interchange improvements designed to increase safety and traffic flow along the busy corridor.
In Brown County, crews are also scheduled to resurface approximately 2.6 miles of U.S. Highway 141 between Ledgeview and Bellevue. The project is expected to include lane closures and brief traffic delays during construction.
Meanwhile, in Oconto County, Highway 22 in the City of Gillett will undergo a full reconstruction project. During the work, the highway will be closed to through traffic, with detours posted for motorists traveling through the area.
Another major project in Outagamie County will involve the reconstruction of Highway 76 near Greenville, which is expected to continue through November. Improvements will include a new roundabout and upgrades to the roadway.
WisDOT officials say construction timelines may change depending on weather conditions and funding, and motorists are encouraged to visit 511 Wisconsin for the latest updates on traffic impacts and project progress.
