Shawano Police handled a wide range of calls yesterday. Officers were first called to a welfare check just before 2 a.m. at the Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street after a caller reported a woman acting suspiciously and staring at people in the parking lot. Officers responded and checked the situation.
Later in the morning, police were dispatched to the area behind the Rainbow Car Wash on Waukechon Street after a man reportedly told authorities he was suicidal. Officers located the individual and assisted.
Police also responded to a stray dog complaint at Walgreens on East Green Bay Street where a friendly brown-and-white dog had followed an employee to work.
During the afternoon, officers investigated reports of reckless driving on South Evergreen Street involving a loud vehicle leaving tire marks, and also responded to a two-vehicle crash near the Kwik Trip and Walmart intersection on East Green Bay Street.
Other calls included welfare checks, alarms, domestic disturbances, and medical assists. Shawano Police say no major injuries were reported.
Clintonville Police responded to a number of calls Monday. Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to an alarm on South Main Street. A few hours later, police made an OWI arrest, also on South Main Street.
Early in the morning officers handled an animal complaint on South Main Street and conducted extra patrols on 9th Street, West Street, and Anne Street. Police also performed additional patrol around schools on West Green Tree Road.
Late in the morning officers checked a suspicious situation on South Main Street, and shortly before 12:30 p.m. assisted with an ambulance call on Bennett Street.
During the afternoon officers conducted a business check on West Green Tree Road and made a traffic stop at South Main and West Second Streets.
Evening activity included another traffic stop at County Highway I and Ginger Spur, an ambulance call on Robert Street, and extra patrol at the Pigeon Lake Boat Launch at Pickerel Point.
Police also conducted several additional traffic stops and business checks before ending the night with another suspicious activity call on South Main Street just before 11:30 p.m.
Shawano County authorities responded to nearly forty incidents across the county on March ninth, including an early-morning drunk driving investigation, a reported theft, and several calls for service involving public safety concerns.
The day began shortly after midnight when deputies were notified of a juvenile runaway from the Homme Home Acceptance Unit near Wittenberg. The incident remains under investigation.
Just before 1:30 a.m., deputies were called to the North Star Casino near Bowler after a purse containing THC gummies was found. The drugs were collected by officers.
Later in the morning, deputies conducted a welfare check at the Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street in Shawano and also assisted in a medical call in Bonduel.
Around 4:20 a.m., deputies responded to Highway 29 near Tigerton where two occupants were reportedly found sleeping inside a vehicle during an OWI investigation. Authorities say the individuals were initially uncooperative. That investigation remains active.
Other calls throughout the day included two juvenile tobacco incidents at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, a report of a power line down near Shawano Lake, and a traffic hazard along Highway 29 where an industrial vacuum had ended up in a ditch.
Deputies also responded to a report of a stolen chain saw from a pickup truck tailgate in the Town of Wescott, as well as a complaint of possible animal neglect involving dogs at a residence in the county.
Later in the afternoon, a driver on a red moped was cited for operating after revocation, and deputies assisted a motorist locked out of a vehicle in the Krakow area.
The evening included a disabled semi along Highway 29 near Bowler and a late-night 911 call near Island Lake that remains under review.
In addition, Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled several incidents Monday, including a vehicle lockout and two disorderly conduct calls at Bowler School.
