Shawano Police responded to a variety of calls over the weekend and into early Monday morning. Early Saturday morning, officers conducted an OWI investigation near Lakeland Road and East Green Bay Street shortly after 1:20 a.m. Later that night, another OWI arrest was made near West Stevens Street and South Smalley Street, and a third OWI investigation occurred just after midnight Sunday at West Green Bay Street and North Bartlett Street.
Officers also handled several quality-of-life calls during the day Saturday. Police were called to McDonald’s on East Green Bay Street after concerns that vehicles from a hockey tournament were blocking access to the restaurant’s back driveway, though officers determined the road was not actually blocked.
At Sturgeon Park, police responded to a report of a young child in only a diaper near the water, and later returned to the park for a noise complaint involving loud jet engine sounds shaking nearby homes.
Other incidents included vandalism reported at Taco Bell on East Green Bay Street, where graffiti was found in the restroom, and a shoplifting complaint at Shoe Sensation on Woodlawn Drive where a suspect reportedly stole a pair of Converse shoes.
Police also assisted firefighters at a possible house fire on South Evergreen Street after a caller reported a burning smell and haze inside the home.
Additional calls included several welfare checks, a report of a stolen bicycle on South Main Street, a traffic hazard near Shawano Middle School, and a report of suspected drugs found in a donation pile at Goodwill on Lakeland Road.
Early Monday morning, officers conducted a welfare check at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street after a caller reported a woman behaving suspiciously in the parking lot.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls yesterday. Just before 2 a.m., officers conducted parking enforcement at Anne Street and 19th Street. A short time later, around 1:52 a.m., police made an OWI arrest near Brent Street and 9th Street.
During the early morning hours, a 911 call came in from 9th Street, followed by several extra patrol requests in that area, as well as on West Street and Anne Street.
Late in the morning, officers responded to a reported utility problem on 18th Street. Around 12:12 p.m., police were called to a motor vehicle crash on 7th Street. Shortly after, a welfare check was conducted on Motor Street.
Early in the afternoon, officers dealt with a traffic hazard at East First Street and East Morning Glory Drive, and later a reported water problem on 15th Street.
Other calls during the day included a stray animal reported near 7th Street and Fly Inn Road, an ambulance assist on Industrial Avenue, and another 911 call on 6th Street during the evening.
The day wrapped up with officers assisting with a lockout on South Clinton Avenue shortly before 10 p.m.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded Just after midnight to a call to locate a stolen red truck pulling a cattle trailer that was reported stolen in neighboring Outagamie County near Old Highway 47 and County Road VV.
In Shawano, deputies also assisted a resident on East Zingler Avenue after the plug came loose from an electric chair, leaving the caller unable to get up until help arrived.
During the morning hours, deputies received reports of reckless driving on Highway 29, including a small silver SUV reportedly traveling about 106 miles per hour eastbound. Authorities say deputies did not pursue because they were unable to safely catch up.
Several traffic-related incidents were also reported Sunday morning. A vehicle struck a deer near Highway 156 and County Road K, sending the car into a ditch. Another deer crash was later reported near Highway 29 and Highway 45 near Wittenberg.
Deputies also responded to multiple traffic hazards, including broken glass scattered along Green Valley Road and a turkey in the roadway near Highway 22 and Circle Drive south of Clintonville.
Other calls throughout the day included animal complaints, a lost set of keys near the Highway 29 and Highway 22 area, and several welfare checks, including one involving a medical alert button activation.
During the afternoon, deputies assisted Langlade County authorities with a report of a man with a gun in Antigo, and later helped the Wittenberg Fire Department at an apartment on South Webb Street.
In the evening, deputies investigated a fight between inmates at the Shawano County Jail where one person indicated they wished to press charges.
Later that night, deputies responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a cow on County Road J in the Tigerton area. Authorities say the cow died in the crash, but no injuries were reported.
