BONDUEL, WI – The Bonduel Bears girls basketball saw their season come to an end after a playoff loss to the St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs girls basketball, finishing the year with an impressive 21-5 record.
Despite the season-ending defeat, the Bears put together a memorable campaign filled with dominant performances. Bonduel recorded several standout wins during the year, including a commanding 71-11 victory over Sevastopol, a hard-fought win over Algoma, and a defensive showcase against Amherst where the Bears held the Falcons under 20 points in a 51-19 win.
Bonduel also proved it could compete with some of the state’s top programs, including a competitive matchup against the powerhouse Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
The Bears closed the regular season strong with wins at Wabeno/Laona Rebels girls basketball and at home against Amherst before earning a playoff victory over Auburndale Eagles girls basketball.
Head coach Jerry Reinke said the biggest thing he will miss from this year’s team is the relationships built throughout the season.
“It’s the kids,” Reinke said. “You definitely miss the kids. It’s a relationship that you develop with all of them.”
Bonduel will graduate several key seniors, including Marlie Hartmann, Cierra Schnell, Jayla Reinke, Mariah Wondra, Julianna Jacobs, and Allison Zernicke. However, the Bears will bring back several returning players next season, including Peyton Westrich, Emery Thompson, and Audrey Jacobs.
