The Shawano Police Officers were first dispatched around 8:45 a.m. yesterday to East Richmond and South Union Streets for a report of a man threatening another driver. According to the log, a driver of a black SUV allegedly exited his vehicle and threatened to assault another man following a traffic dispute. The incident remains active.
Just after 9:15 a.m., officers made a warrant arrest at the Probation and Parole office on East Green Bay Street. Authorities took a man into custody and transported him to the Shawano County Jail.
Police also handled multiple school-related matters during the day, including truancy complaints at Shawano Community High School and liaison calls at Olga Brener School and Shawano Community Middle School.
Around 11:40 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle lockout on East Ridlington Avenue after a baby was reported locked inside a running vehicle. Police were able to assist.
Other calls included a welfare check on Mountain Bay Trail, reports of reckless driving near Lakeland Road and Raasch Street, a theft of outdoor toys on East Lieg Avenue, harassment and trespassing complaints, and an evening assist to other law enforcement agencies at North Star Casino in Gresham.
The Clintonville Police Department responded to a wide range of calls yesterday. Officers conducted numerous early morning business checks along South Main Street, where they also investigated an open door at one location. A series of traffic stops were made throughout the day, including on West Madison Street and at North Main and West 13th Streets.
Emergency medical calls kept crews busy, with ambulances dispatched to North Park Street, Garfield Avenue, West Campus Drive, Industrial Avenue, and later to South Main Street for a reported overdose around 6 p.m. The patient’s condition has not been released.
Police also responded to a 911 call on Brix Street, handled a theft complaint on Wilson Street, and investigated a drug-related report on West Green Tree Road.
Additional activity included extra patrols in several neighborhoods, parking enforcement, paper service attempts, a warrant arrest on Wilson Street, and welfare checks on Flora Way and 16th Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a busy mix of traffic stops, emergencies, and arrests across the county. Just after midnight with a traffic hazard on Highway 29 near mile marker 243 southeast of Shawano, where deputies found large amounts of debris scattered across both lanes of traffic. Cleanup efforts were underway to keep motorists safe.
Around 3:30 Tuesday morning, deputies arrested a 59-year-old man from Birnamwood on suspicion of operating while intoxicated following a stop on County Highway D in the Town of Seneca. He was taken into custody and referred on charges.
Several disabled vehicles were reported during the morning commute, including a pickup truck with a family inside along Highway 160 and a flat tire incident on Highway 45 in Tigerton. No injuries were reported in those cases.
At 7:38 a.m., a man turned himself in at the Shawano County Jail on an outstanding sheriff’s office warrant and was taken into custody.
Deputies also responded to multiple reckless driving complaints on Highway 29 and Highway 22 throughout the day, along with reports of animals in the roadway, including bulls near Hillcrest Road and County Highway BE that forced drivers to swerve.
In Cecil, a property damage complaint was filed after a vehicle struck a trash can, leaving behind a side mirror and broken glass.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also assisted with several calls Tuesday, including a traffic crash with property damage in Gresham and an alarm call in Bowler.
