NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – As spring approaches, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents that several outdoor licenses and registrations will soon expire.
Mark Schraufnagel says many annual licenses, including fishing licenses, ATV registrations, and boat registrations, expire at the end of the month. He encourages residents to renew early to avoid delays as outdoor recreation activity increases heading into spring.
Schraufnagel says the fastest and most convenient way to renew licenses is online through the Wisconsin DNR website. With the spring fishing season right around the corner, he is also reminding families to ensure young anglers are properly licensed before heading out on the water.
Under Wisconsin law, anyone age 16 or older must have a fishing license. Those who are 16 or 17 qualify for a junior fishing license, while adults must purchase a standard fishing license.
Schraufnagel also notes that Wisconsin residents age 65 and older are eligible for a discounted fishing license that costs just $8, making it an affordable way for seniors to continue enjoying the state’s outdoor recreation opportunities.
