DIVISION 2- BAY STRIKES GOLD WITH LEISGANG AND CHRISTOPHER
For the second time in school history, New London has a Boys State Champion. William Christopher finished his Senior season unbeaten with an 11-3 win over Landen Bogard of East Troy.
“It’s insane, it shows the hours and work I put in,” Christopher said. “I pushed it all season long, and there is going out there to win and going out there not to lose. When I started stopping worrying about wins and loses and more on performance, that’s when I noticed a difference.”
Coach Nathan Krueger said it came down to hard work. “He worked his butt off this year and I could not be more proud of him.”
Krueger said he knew at the end of the season last year that Christopher had what it took to win a State Championhip.
This is the fourth State title for New London wrestling in the last five years with Hailie Krueger winning three for the girls.
“Keep going, keep pushing and trust the process,” Christopher said.
Seymour’s Cael Leisgang completed the perfect season with a State Championship win on Saturday.
The Senior topped Gatlin Empey of Stoughton 4-1 to win his first state title. Leisgang was runner-up last year, but finished this season 41-0, winning Seymour’s first title in almost two decades.
“I feel amazing, and I feel like I broke the ice for everyone coming.”
Leisgang said he felt like he was more powerful. “I just stayed in the middle and waited for my opportunity to score.

In a rare situation for Huffman, she was taken down by Madeline Sorenson of Eau Claire North, and also was forced to wrestle the entire six minutes before earning a 13-7 win.
