SHAWANO, WI – The Hawks are moving on in the playoffs after pulling out a win after the Thunderbirds came out hot in the first half.
Lakeland started off on a 15-5 run to start the game and made 5 threes in that time frame.
Shawano responded with Leah Nordin’s 20 first half points and Anna Drier’s 11.
Shawano pulled ahead with buckets from Maci Beyer, Jadyn Brown and Creden Weisnicht to gain a 39-27 halftime lead.
The Thunderbirds would not go down without a fight as Savanah Kemnitz and Ava Evenhouse combined for 19 2nd half points but it was not enough as Shawano hit their free throws in the end and forcing 17 turnovers from Lakeland.
Leaders for Shawano were Leah Nordin with 28, Anna Drier with 15 and Jadyn Brown with 10.
Lakeland was led by Ava Evenhouse with 21, Savanah Kemnitz with 19.
Other results from the regional included Rhinelander defeating Pulaski, Marinette defeating Marshfield and New London defeating Waupaca.
Shawano will take on New London tomorrow night (2/28) inside the Hawks nest.
Tipoff is set for 7pm on the Franchise Sports Radio.
