Shawano Police were busy yesterday. Officers were called just after midnight to East 5th Street and Fairview Way to assist with a traffic stop involving a canine unit.
At around 9:30 a.m., police responded to a trespassing complaint in the 300 block of South Andrews Street after a caller reported squatters inside the basement of a vacant residence. Officers arrived on scene and took action.
Late morning brought several service calls, including reports of abandoned bicycles near Lakeland Road and East Richmond Street, and another found at Memorial Park on South Lincoln Street. Police also responded to a report of two dogs running loose in the Walmart parking lot on East Green Bay Street.
The most serious incident of the day occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of North Airport Drive and East Green Bay Street, where officers, firefighters, and ambulance crews responded to a personal injury crash. Multiple units were on scene for several hours.
Police also handled harassment complaints, vehicle lockouts, a 911 open line call, and a late-night disturbance on South Smalley Street.
Clintonville Police were kept busy responding to a variety of calls. Officers were called just after 1 a.m. to Maize Street for an animal nuisance complaint. Two separate alarm calls were reported within minutes of each other around 3:20 a.m. on South Main Street.
Extra patrols were conducted at 6 a.m. on Anne Street and West Street.
At 7:42 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash at Harriet Street and West Green Tree Road. Another crash was reported later in the afternoon at 3:50 p.m. on South Main Street.
Officers made warrant-related contacts on Brix Street during the morning and early afternoon hours. A threatening complaint was reported just before noon on West Green Tree Road.
Police also handled a traffic complaint at Highway 45 and Beyer Road, a traffic stop on South Main Street, and a hit-and-run on Maize Street shortly before 4 p.m. Property damage was reported at Grove Street and North Clinton Avenue.
The day ended with a citizen assist on Harriet Street, an ambulance call on Brent Street, and a late-night disorderly complaint on Wilson Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a wide range of calls starting just after midnight. Just before 12:40 a.m., deputies responded to a property damage crash at County Road B and Waukechon Street in the Town of Waukechon. The driver reportedly slid into the ditch and struck a road sign. No injuries were reported.
Around 8:15 a.m., deputies were called to Ho-Chunk Casino in Wittenberg for a disturbance involving a reportedly destructive employee. The situation was handled without further incident.
Mid-morning, authorities investigated an abandoned vehicle near Highway 22 and Highway 117 in Cecil, along with multiple lockouts and assist calls throughout the county. Deputies also responded to two separate 911 hang-up calls, including one near Cloverleaf Lake Road and another in the Pulaski area.
Traffic hazards were a recurring issue during the day. Deputies removed debris from Highway 29 near Spruce Road and later near Hickory Road. Cows were reported in the roadway on Castle Road near County Road BE, and a disabled vehicle was reported on Highway 29 near Banner Road.
An unusual call came in just before 5 p.m. after a report of an ice shanty going through the ice on Shawano Lake near Crystal Drive.
The day concluded with a reckless driving complaint on Highway 29 and a transport from the Shawano County Jail to the emergency room.
