Shawano Police handled a variety of calls including theft, welfare concerns, and multiple service calls.
Officers responded just after 4 a.m. to a vehicle lockout on Engel Drive. Later in the morning, police were called to Birch Hill Health Care for a report of possible elderly abuse involving a patient with a hip injury. The incident remains under investigation.
Around 10:30 a.m., officers conducted a standby at a West First Street residence. A short time later, a canine call-out was requested at Shawano High School.
In the afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Tractor Supply on East Green Bay Street. A male suspect reportedly left the store on a bicycle with unpaid merchandise and was last seen heading westbound.
Officers also conducted a welfare check near West Fourth Street and North Washington Street after a caller reported an elderly woman possibly not dressed appropriately for the weather.
Additional calls included a bicycle complaint, a report of car property damage on County Highway B, and a 911 open line call near East Stevens and South Union Streets.
Clintonville Police were kept busy yesterday with a variety of calls across the city.
Officers conducted multiple traffic stops, including at Highway 45 and Bear Creek Road just before 1 a.m., also along W. Madison Street, Highway 22, South Main Street at County Highway I, and North Main Street later in the evening.
Police also performed several early morning business checks along South Main Street and North Main Street. During one of those checks, officers discovered an open door at a North Main Street property. The building was checked and secured.
Other calls included a suspicious vehicle complaint on Coleus Court, extra patrols on West and Anne Streets, and a traffic hazard at W. Green Tree Road and North Main Street.
Officers responded to two separate motor vehicle crashes at 8th Street and South Main Street during the afternoon hours. Additional incidents included a welfare check on 6th Street, an animal problem on 7th Street, and a disorderly complaint on 20th Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 37 incidents across the county. Deputies assisted with two early morning medical calls, including an unconscious person on Pine Ridge Road. A commercial burglary alarm on Anderson Avenue in the Town of Wescott was investigated and determined to be secure.
Highway 29 proved especially problematic throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Beginning around 2:30 p.m., deputies handled a series of crashes along the corridor, including injury and property-damage accidents at Leopolis Road, County Highway F, County Highway T, River Road, and near the Highway 45 interchange by Ho-Chunk Casino. Several vehicles were reported in ditches or on embankments, with multiple crashes occurring east of County Highway K. Authorities say road conditions were a contributing factor in several of the incidents.
Additional crashes were reported at County Trunk BE and E, Swamp Road and County D, Peach Road and Oak Avenue, and Highway 47 near Old Dump Road.
Other calls during the day included reckless driving in Bonduel, a sick animal complaint in Birnamwood, courthouse security details in Shawano, multiple disabled vehicles, and traffic hazards including a downed stop sign at North Street and Highway 117.
Deputies also responded to a threatening complaint in Wittenberg involving reported online extortion, a welfare check in the Town of Waukechon, and a transport from the Shawano County Jail.
In addition, the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department handled a welfare check on County Highway A.
