SHAWANO, WI – Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is receiving national recognition after being named a finalist for the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
Jeannie Otto with NWTC says the Aspen Prize recognizes outstanding community colleges that demonstrate high levels of student success in teaching and learning, along with strong outcomes in certificates and degree completion. The award carries a $1 million prize and is presented every two years to top-performing community colleges across the country.
While NWTC did not take home the top honor this time, Otto says the recognition itself is a significant achievement. The college was ranked among the top 10 institutions considered and was invited back again this year, receiving feedback to help strengthen its chances in the future.
Otto says being named a finalist reflects NWTC’s continued commitment to helping students succeed both inside and outside the classroom. College leaders say the recognition highlights the strength of the programs and support systems in place to help students reach their goals.
