Shawano Police were busy yesterday responding to a wide range of calls across the city. Officers were first dispatched just after midnight to an apartment at 325 East Fifth Street for two separate abandoned 911 calls. Attempts to call the number back were met with a busy signal and later static. Officers checked the residence and the calls were cleared.
Around 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a trespassing complaint on East Lieg Avenue. That incident resulted in a citation or arrest.
Police also handled multiple repossessions early in the morning on South Bartlett and South River Streets involving a 2014 Nissan Juke and a 2013 Chevy Equinox.
Shoplifting complaints were reported at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street, including incidents involving several boxes and bottles of wine tied to the same suspect.
Other calls included a found wallet turned in at City Hall, a vehicle lockout on South Main Street, a theft complaint involving a missing fence post on East Center Street, and a vandalism report at Walmart where a vehicle was damaged with food and scratches.
The day ended with officers responding to a suspicious intoxicated person on a porch on South Washington Street and another intoxication complaint at Kwik Trip.
Clintonville Police began their day just before 1 a.m. with a traffic stop at Hemlock and 10th Streets. Officers conducted extra patrol on Anne Street at 6 a.m., followed by a noise complaint on East Morning Glory Drive. Another traffic stop was made shortly after at 7th Street and South Main.
School extra patrol was conducted on 20th Street around 8 a.m. Late morning activity included a disorderly complaint on West Green Tree Road and additional traffic stops at North 12th and Pearl Streets.
Officers handled parking enforcement on South Main Street just after noon and performed a business check on 20th Street early in the afternoon. Ambulance assists were reported on North 12th Street and later on South Main.
Drug-related activity and a business assist were both reported on West Green Tree Road, while an ordinance violation was logged on Coleus Court and an animal complaint on West Madison Street.
Several more traffic stops took place throughout the afternoon and evening, including at Highway 45 and County Highway C, Waupaca and West Streets, and West Madison and West Streets.
Police also investigated an open door complaint on Bennett Street and conducted another business check on South Main before the evening concluded with a final traffic stop on South Main Street.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 25 incidents across the county on February 19th, ranging from reckless driving and welfare checks to traffic hazards and suspicious activity.
The day began just before 5 a.m. with a request to deliver a message in Bowler. By mid-morning, deputies were investigating two separate reckless driving complaints — one involving a vehicle reportedly following too closely and speeding on Highway 29, and another in Tigerton where a driver was accused of swerving in front of a semi and driving erratically near an elementary school.
A domestic disturbance was reported mid-morning involving a victim seeking to report past abuse. Deputies also conducted multiple transports, including one to Mendota Mental Health.
Several welfare checks were handled throughout the day in Shawano, Bonduel, and Clintonville, including one that resulted in a safety plan. Property damage was reported in the town of Clintonville, where two mailboxes were damaged over a two-week period.
Deputies responded to a motorcycle crash in Pulaski where the rider was trapped under the bike but initially refused EMS. Traffic hazards included large tires in the roadway on Highway 29 and later a tree blocking a road in the town of Green Valley.
A suspicious vehicle complaint at Tigerton Elementary led to a citation or arrest, and a K-9 unit was deployed in that investigation.
Evening calls included a suspicious vehicle at Aspirus Birnamwood, an attempt to locate for Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, and assistance to fire personnel in Bonduel.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also reported a disabled vehicle and assisted with a separate law enforcement matter.
