Jeanne T. Hendricks, age 90 of Oshkosh, formerly of Tigerton, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Oshkosh.
Jeanne Terese Hendricks was born August 16, 1935, in Laona, Wisconsin to Clarence and Mary (nee McGoey) Roeske. When she was in second grade, the family moved to Tigerton, where Jeanne grew up, graduated from Tigerton High School in 1953, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1957. Just a week after graduation, Jeanne married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Hendricks on June 22, 1957. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; sister, Yvonne Lindow; and brother, Dr. C. Edward Roeske. Jeanne and Bob were blessed with five children; Barbara (James) Stern, Rob (Phyllis) Hendricks, Mary (Roger) Jameson, Tom (Mary) Hendricks, and Clare (Mark) Vanden Heuvel; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandsons. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Judith Earling, many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Jeanne taught school in New London, Tigerton, and Bowler. She volunteered in church and community. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an International Society for key women educators. Jeanne was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she played the organ as a teenager, sang in the choir for forty years, taught religious education, and served on the parish council and the Ladies Society. She spent 18 years volunteering with the Girl Scouts as a leader and camp counselor and served on the board of directors at Maple Hills Golf Course. In 1991, Jeanne was honored to receive the Lion’s Club Community Service Award. Jeanne’s hobbies included playing bridge, cheering for the Packers, golfing, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time in Door County and Marco Island, Florida. Jeanne had a gift for hospitality and found great joy in gathering family and friends around her table.
Her family is deeply grateful to the staff at Evergreen and Asceracare for the compassionate care and love they gave Jeanne. Their relationship and love for her was so visible in her everyday care. It was a testament to the bond they had all developed during her time at Evergreen. Remarkably, they extended their care and compassion to Jeanne’s family. In lieu of flowers, there is a memorial fund being established in Jeanne Hendricks name at Bree’s Closet (Bowler School District, 500 S. Almon Street, Bowler, WI 54416) to provide clothing, hygiene products and other items for families in need.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jeanne on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 430 Swanke Street, Tigerton, WI 54486. Fr. Mark Rydell will officiate and interment will be at Union Cemetery also in Tigerton. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of the service.
