Shawano Police were busy Tuesday. Officers were first dispatched just before 4 a.m. to the AmeriVu Inn & Suites on Waukechon Street for a disorderly conduct complaint. A man was reportedly yelling in the lobby and waking up guests. Police returned to the hotel later in the morning for a related disturbance involving the same individual seeking a refund.
Around 8 a.m., officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street. A female suspect was reported to have left the store with unpaid items in a silver Toyota van. The incident remains under investigation.
Police also handled several calls at Shawano Community High School, including a tobacco complaint and a drug-related investigation that lasted several hours. An additional report was taken at Shawano Community Middle School for an offense on school property.
Other activity included multiple welfare checks, a report of a used needle found along the Mountain Bay Trail, an animal complaint at Jaycee Court involving a large dog in a small-dog area, and assistance to fire crews for a possible burning odor at an East Division Street apartment.
Police also took one person into custody Tuesday night on a probation warrant.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls across the city. Officers conducted multiple traffic stops, including just after midnight and again shortly after 8 p.m. at North Main and West 13th Streets. Another stop was reported at West 14th and North 12th Streets later in the morning.
Police performed business checks on West Madison Street and extra patrols on Anne Street and North Main Street. A mental health-related call was handled on 20th Street just before 8:40 a.m.
Emergency crews responded to two ambulance calls Tuesday morning, one on Morning Glory Drive and another on Anne Street. Officers also assisted another agency with mutual aid along Highway 156.
During the afternoon hours, police handled a vehicle lockout on North Main Street, a disorderly complaint on West Green Tree Road, and a suspicious activity report on Stewart Street. A water problem was reported near North 12th and West Green Tree Road.
Wilson Street saw several calls, including a theft, a traffic ordinance violation, and a lost-and-found report.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious complaint on Lake Drive in the Town of Wescott. Around 2:20 a.m., a disabled vehicle was reported at Highway 29 and South Cecil Street in Bonduel after a belt snapped. The driver arranged for a tow.
Throughout the day, deputies handled multiple warrants at the Shawano County Courthouse on North Main Street in Shawano, taking several individuals into custody, including one for violating terms of electronic monitoring.
Reckless driving complaints were frequent, including a maroon minivan hauling a tractor without proper trailer brakes near the Kwik Trip in Bonduel and additional reports along Highway 156 and Highway 45. Several traffic violations were also documented in the Wittenberg area involving vehicles that failed to properly stop for school buses Monday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a threatening complaint in Wittenberg, an injury crash at Highway 156 and Highway 187 in Shiocton, and an assault complaint at the courthouse where a man allegedly spit on another individual.
Other calls included a report of unsafe ice conditions on Airport Drive, a welfare check on a dog in the Town of Wescott, suspicious activity complaints, and assistance to a municipality that had not reported election results.
Late Tuesday night, a driver was cited for operating after revocation, ignition interlock violations, and speeding 50 in a 25 zone.
