SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – Shawano County 4-H is offering a new hands-on learning opportunity with its upcoming Leathercraft event, designed for participants interested in trying something creative and practical.
Megan Suehring with Shawano County 4-H says the event will introduce beginners to leatherworking, including making coin purses and another starter project. Participants who want to continue developing their skills will have the chance to take on more advanced projects in the future. Suehring adds the event is completely free, with organizers simply encouraging anyone interested to attend and give it a try.
Behind the scenes, the organization is also focused on preparing future leaders through counselor training. Suehring says a strong group of about 14 to 16 counselors in training has already signed up this year.
Training begins with an emphasis on youth development and safety, giving counselors the foundation they need before working directly with participants and helping lead 4-H programs.
