Jerome Ahlers, age 67 of the Township of Grant, Shawano County, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday morning, February 12, 2026.
Jerome “Jerry” Ahlers, affectionately known to many as “The Angry Farmer,” was born on October 26, 1958, in West Bend, Wisconsin, Jerry was the son of the late Harold and Marion (Wolff) Ahlers.
A 1977 graduate of West Bend West High School, Jerry’s lifelong passion for the land began early through his involvement in FFA and showing cattle at the fair. His hardworking nature was evident throughout his career, serving as a foreman for Walters Building and working with Torborgs Lumber in Clintonville. In 1980, Jerry followed his heart to the Tigerton area to pursue his passion for farming , which he continued for the rest of his life. Between 1997 and 2010, he also shared his work ethic with his son, Wayne, as they operated Ahlers Seamless Gutters together before Jerry returned to his beloved farm in retirement.
Beyond his work, Jerry found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of nature – whether he was logging, cutting wood, or making maple syrup on his own land. He cherished his time spent fishing at his cabin near Ignace, Ontario, a sanctuary he purchased in 1999. Known for being a bit gruff and “rough around the edges,” those who knew him best understood that beneath that exterior beat a truly big heart.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Danette
