SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano Police Department marked Safer Internet Day on February 10 by encouraging families to prioritize online safety. Officers are highlighting the work of the Wisconsin ICAC Task Force, a statewide partnership dedicated to protecting children from online exploitation and abuse.
The task force collaborates with local and state law enforcement agencies to investigate internet crimes against children while also providing education and outreach to families and communities. Police say awareness and communication at home are key components in preventing online harm.
Officials encourage parents and guardians to talk with their children about safe online habits, monitor internet use, and stay informed about the platforms and apps their kids are using. Safer Internet Day serves as an annual reminder that protecting children in the digital world requires vigilance, education, and proactive involvement from families and the community.
