Pirates Knock Off Ranked Redbirds, Other Area Action as Playoffs Approach

Bay Port held off a strong De Pere squad for a 55-50 win in a matchup between two of the area’s top teams Thursday night.
De Pere led 26-21 at halftime, but the Pirates flipped the game in the second half, outscoring the Redbirds 34-24 in the second half. Bay Port’s efficiency at the free throw line (18-for-24) and balanced scoring helped seal the comeback.
Ava Nagel led the way with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a 6-of-7 night at the line, while Olivia Williams added 14 points and Kailynn Thompson chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds, and a strong defensive effort with blocks and steals. Bay Port shot 45% from the field.
With the win, Bay Port moves to 17-4 and evens the recent series with De Pere at 1-1.
