
Stephen M. “Steve” Halstead, age 45, of Suring, passed away suddenly of an unexpected heart complication on Tuesday evening, January 27, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Steve was born on November 22, 1980, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee. The youngest son of Mitchell and Leann (Duket) Halstead. He attended West Allis Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1999. The day after Steve graduated, he moved to Shawano to live with his brother and sister-in-law. He was employed at Aarrowcast (Charter Casting) in Shawano and currently
worked at Great Lakes Manufacturing in Suring. Steve loved GM cars and was always swapping them out. He also enjoyed moto-camping and was the selfproclaimed “Moto-Camping Commander.” Steve cherished the times he took his son out four-wheeling. He loved living in the Northwoods and tent camping. Steve was baptized in the Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cassidy Halstead, and her mother, Tammy Kettler; his son, Van M. Halstead, and his mother, Ashley Kaczynski; two grandchildren, Olivia and Kayden; his parents, Mitch and Leann Halstead of the Town of Gillett; brothers, Tim (Jenn) Halstead of Shawano and Jason (Shalynn) Halstead of Hales Corners, WI; and his fiancée, Julia Kratzke of Shawano. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, three uncles, and one aunt.
A funeral service for Stephen M. Halstead will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 am and continue until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants the family kindly requests memorials for Stephen’s children’s education.
