Tigerton 81, Rosholt 50
7th ranked in Division 5, Tigerton continued its unbeaten run Tuesday night with an 81-50 victory over Rosholt, improving to 13-0 on the season.
The Tigers set the tone early, exploding for 42 first-half points to open a commanding 42-18 halftime lead. Tigerton’s balanced attack and relentless defense kept the Hornets from finding any rhythm, and the margin continued to grow after the break as the Tigers cruised to their fifth straight win.
Senior Sam Anheuser and junior James Brady paced the offense with 22 points apiece. Anheuser was efficient from the floor, hitting 9 of 16 shots and adding six assists, while Brady went 10-for-14 shooting and filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four blocks and a steal. Junior Cameron Carlson added nine points and six assists as Tigerton racked up 27 team assists on 33 made field goals.
The Tigers dominated the glass and the defensive end, finishing with 30 rebounds, 23 steals and five blocks, repeatedly turning stops into transition opportunities.
Rosholt battled throughout but could not overcome Tigerton’s early surge. The Hornets trailed by 24 at halftime and were unable to cut into the deficit in the second half.
With the win, Tigerton remains unbeaten and continues to roll through its schedule, while Rosholt drops to 5-8 on the year.
Amherst 54, Clintonville 43
Amherst picked up a home nonconference win Tuesday night, pulling away in the second half to defeat Clintonville 54-43.
The Falcons took control early, building a 24-17 advantage by halftime behind steady scoring and solid defensive pressure. Clintonville stayed within striking distance through the opening half, but Amherst came out with renewed energy after the break and outscored the Truckers 30-26 in the second half to secure the victory.
Junior Taylan McCormick led all scorers with 22 points for Amherst, while senior Sully Perkins added 18 points to give the Falcons a reliable one-two punch. Sophomore Antonio Vaquera chipped in five points as Amherst improved to 8-5 on the season.
Clintonville struggled to generate consistent offense and could not overcome the early deficit. The Truckers were held to 17 points in the first half and were unable to make a late run despite improved scoring in the final period.
With the win, Amherst snapped a brief skid, while Clintonville dropped to 1-12 on the year.
Saint Thomas Aquinas 71, Niagara 62
A monster night from junior Jake Farley lifted Saint Thomas Aquinas to a 71-62 win over Niagara on Tuesday evening.
The Cavaliers leaned heavily on Farley, who poured in 48 points on 15-of-27 shooting, including seven three-pointers, and went 11-for-14 at the free throw line. He added 12 rebounds, four steals and a block in a dominant all-around performance as Aquinas improved to 4-6 on the season.
The game was tight early, with Aquinas holding a slim 32-29 lead at halftime. Niagara stayed within striking distance through the opening half, but Farley caught fire in the second period, helping the Cavaliers outscore the Badgers 39-33 after the break to pull away late.
Freshman Lucas Farley provided strong support with 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals, while senior Caleb Duvall chipped in four points and seven rebounds as Aquinas controlled the glass and forced 18 Niagara turnovers.
Niagara, now 6-7, kept pace early but struggled to contain Aquinas’ perimeter shooting and transition attack down the stretch.
With the win, Saint Thomas Aquinas earned its fourth victory of the year and snapped a recent skid, while Niagara looks to regroup
