Shawano Police handled a steady stream of calls throughout Wednesday, starting early in the morning with a 911 call from the Mountain Bay Trail area. Officers confirmed there was no emergency.
Around 6:30 a.m., police responded to the middle school after a driver accidentally backed into a light pole, causing minor vehicle damage. No injuries were reported.
Just after 7 a.m., officers were called to Green Bay and Hamlin Streets for a traffic hazard when railroad crossing lights malfunctioned, creating confusion as drivers attempted to turn around in the roadway. The issue was addressed, and traffic resumed normally.
Throughout the day, police assisted EMS with several medical calls across the city, including one on Bartlett Street involving a medical device issue, and others later in the afternoon and evening.
Officers also handled a few routine service calls — including a car lockout, where the caller later discovered the keys were in their pocket — and an abandoned vehicle that was eventually addressed after police contacted the owner.
In the afternoon, officers checked reports of kids throwing snowballs downtown, though the group had left the area when police arrived. A welfare concern involving a dog left outside on Park Street was also investigated.
Clintonville Police had a steady but routine day on Wednesday, beginning just before 4 a.m. with parking enforcement checks on the east side of the city. A second parking enforcement call followed a few hours later, on 18th Street.
Around five o’clock, officers responded to a 911 call on McKinley Avenue, and later in the afternoon handled a 911 misdial on Fairway Drive. In both cases, no emergency was found.
Police conducted two welfare checks — one late in the morning on North Main Street, and another mid-afternoon on East Morning Glory Drive — ensuring the individuals involved were safe.
Officers were also busy with citizen assists, including calls on 6th Street and at West 1st and Bennett, and they completed extra patrols on County Highway I, and again later in the evening on 20th Street and Anne Street.
Traffic stops were conducted on SSGT Warren Hansen Drive in the afternoon and later near Highway 22 and Olson Road shortly before midnight.
The day wrapped up with an ambulance call on 7th Street just before midnight, where officers assisted emergency responders.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a full slate of calls on Wednesday, beginning early in the morning with a disabled vehicle reported near County Highway M and Johnson Road. Shortly after, deputies attempted a traffic stop near Highway 22 and County Highway Y, but the vehicle reportedly accelerated away at a high rate of speed. No injuries were reported and the incident was cleared.
Around 5:40 a.m., deputies investigated a traffic hazard on Highway 29 near County Highway F, followed minutes later by a 911 call from the Marion area. At about 6:45, another vehicle went into the ditch on Highway 29 near Highway 160 in Pulaski. No injuries were reported.
Just after 7 a.m., deputies responded to a non-reportable crash near Highway 45 and Linke Road after a driver slid into a ditch. Another 911 call came in just before 8 a.m. near Hickory Road, triggered by an Apple Watch crash detection system. Deputies determined there was no emergency.
A DNR violation was reported mid-morning in the Gresham area, and a separate 911 call came in from Wittenberg shortly after 9 a.m., again with no emergency found.
The afternoon saw another 911 call from the Pulaski area, followed by a medical call in Bowler. Deputies also took a harassment complaint from a Clintonville resident, and a disturbance was reported involving a girl being threatened by her boyfriend.
Later in the afternoon, deputies investigated a bail-jumping complaint in Bonduel, and an information report in Krakow related to an ongoing neighbor dispute. A traffic hazard was reported near Highway 22 and County Highway V, and deputies assisted medical responders in Tigerton around 5 p.m.
A postal vehicle slid into a ditch in Shawano early Wednesday evening, with removal planned for Thursday. Another crash, described as non-reportable, was reported minutes later near Highway 29.
Just after 6 p.m., deputies responded to a snowmobile complaint near Pulaski involving riders traveling on ungroomed trails. A reckless driving report followed on Highway 29, describing a swerving truck with no headlights.
The day concluded with a 911 call in Cecil around 8:30 p.m. and a late-night suspicious activity complaint in Gresham after a resident noticed a light on inside a long-vacant building.
