NEW LONDON, WI – The New London School District has been awarded a Digital Mapping of School Buildings grant, totaling more than $40,000 to strengthen school safety and emergency preparedness. Superintendent Scott Bleck told the school board the district received an initial award of $6,490, along with a supplemental grant of $34,800, to create digital maps of every school building in the district.
The new technology will give law enforcement and emergency responders real-time access to detailed layouts of district facilities, helping them respond more quickly and effectively during emergencies. Bleck credited the district’s partnership with the City of New London and the New London Area Chamber of Commerce for helping secure the funding, noting that the shared grant-writing collaboration has already proven valuable.
The digital mapping project will provide local officers and safety officials with a new level of coordination and preparedness to help keep students and staff safe.
