Boys Soccer Regional Semifinals; New London Among Those In Regional Finals

WIAA Regional Semifinal play took place Thursday for Division 3 and Division 4. Winners advancing to Saturday’s Regional Finals.

DIVISION 3

#4 Mosinee 4, #5 Waupaca 0
The Indians ended the Comets season last night in shutout fashion. The Comets registered 7 shots on goal.

#3 New London 1 #6 Merrill 0
The Bulldogs advanced to the regional final last night after defeating Merrill 1-0 and ending the Bluejays season.

#2 Shawano 8, #7 Antigo 0
The Hawks flew high over the Red Robins, eliminating Antigo by mercy rule. Anderson Schmidt had a hat trick scoring 3 goals off penalty kicks.

#1 Notre Dame 8, #16 Seymour 0
The Tritons blanked the Thunder at home, ending Seymour’s season. Jacob Broullire had a hat trick for Notre Dame.

#5 Port Washington 4, #12 Winneconne 1
The Wolves took the long trip down to Port Washington for a playoff matchup and they mustered 1 goal against the Pirates but it was not enough. The Wolves got their lone goal in the 2nd half.

#6 Freedom 3, #11 Plymouth 3 – Freedom wins in SO 4-3.
The Irish survived the upset scare from the Panthers in shootout style. Cal Calhoon for Freedom had 4 goals.

#10 Luxemburg-Casco 2, #7 Marinette 2 – Lux-Casco wins in shootout 4-3.
The Spartans pulled off the road upset over the Marines to advance to Saturday’s regional final game. After 2 overtimes, it was still not enough as there was a shootout which was ultimately won by
Lux-Casco 4-3.

#2 Fox Valley Lutheran 5, #15 New Holstein/Brillion 1
The Foxes blew past the Co-Op with 3 goals coming in the 1st half. Ezra Schaser had 2 goals for FVL.

DIVISION 4

#1 Arcadia 9, #8 Tri-County 0
The Penguins season ended last night at the hands of the Raiders in a 9-0 loss.

#2 Amherst 8, #7 Pacelli/Iola-Scandinavia 0
The Falcons flew high over the Co-Op of Pacelli/Iola to advance to Saturday’s regional final match. Ayden Kazda had 4 goals for Amherst.

#1 Sturgeon Bay 10, #17 Gresham/Bowler 0
The Cats season ended last night at the hands of the Clippers up in Door County. Gresham/Bowler won their play-in game against Green Bay NEW to play Sturgeon Bay.

#8 Peshtigo 1, #9 Providence Academy 0
The Bulldogs moved on to Saturday’s regional final match after eliminating the Paladins of Providence Academy 1-0. The lone goal for Peshtigo came in the 2nd half.

#3 Xavier 11, #14 Kewaunee 4
The Hawks weathered the Storm as Kewaunee put up a fight but Xavier’s offense was too much for the Storm.

#6 Omro 2, #11 Clintonville 0
The Truckers saw their season come to a end in Omro last night as the Foxes got 2 goals to shutout their counterparts.

#7 Algoma 2, #10 Wrightstown 1
The Tigers almost pulled off the upset over the Wolves last night but the slipper did not fit for the Cinderella. Wrightstown’s goal came in the 2nd half.
