MARION, WI- A Marion-based company has earned statewide recognition for innovation and craftsmanship. The Search and Rescue 1000 Island Airboat, built by 1000 Island Airboats of Marion, has been named this year’s “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.” The winner was announced Thursday on the Made in Wisconsin website after several rounds of online voting. The airboat was one of four finalists selected from more than 150 nominated products across the state.
Other finalists included the Comfort Custom Seating System by Permobil of New Berlin, extrication tools made by TNT Rescue Systems of Hartland, and Kikkoman Soy Sauce produced in Walworth.
The annual competition, hosted by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and Johnson Financial Group, highlights the creativity, skill, and pride behind Wisconsin-made products.
