SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to take part in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday, an opportunity to safely clear out expired or unused medications. Sheriff George Lenzner says the event helps prevent misuse and keeps communities safer.
“Most people know we have a drug collection box here at the sheriff’s office in the front lobby,” Lenzner explained, “and you can drop off your medications that are expired or old that you’re no longer using.”
The department’s collection box is open 24/7, and additional drop-off sites are available in Bonduel, Bowler, and Wittenberg — ensuring convenient access for all area residents. Lenzner also reminds participants to follow safety guidelines when turning in items. Accepted materials include capsules, creams, inhalers, ointments, patches, pills, and vials, along with pet medications.
Lenzner says the process is quick, safe, and completely anonymous, and by participating, residents are helping protect their homes, families, and the environment.
