Shawano Police had a steady Wednesday with a mix of medical calls, fire assists, and a few criminal reports across the city.
Officers began the morning around 6:30 with a noise complaint from South Water Street, where a caller reported sounds coming from the nearby dam. The matter was closed without further contact.
A short time later, police and EMS responded to East Randall Street for a medical call. Dispatchers noted the caller had a poor phone connection but was reporting severe lower back pain. The individual was treated at the scene.
Around 10 a.m., Shawano Fire and Police were called to Dunke Holdings on East Richmond Street after a fire alarm went off. Crews checked the property but found no active fire, and the scene was cleared quickly.
Midday brought two separate theft investigations at Walmart on East Green Bay Street. Officers took after-the-fact shoplifting reports connected to incidents from earlier in the month. Both cases remain under investigation.
In the afternoon, police were called to Kobussen Buses on East Green Bay Street for a report of threats involving a non-custodial parent. Officers met with staff and are continuing to look into the situation.
Later in the day, there was a minor two-vehicle crash in front of Charlie’s County Market on South Main Street. No one was hurt and both vehicles were able to drive away.
And finally, officers checked a report of a woman soliciting money near the Walmart stoplight, but she was gone when police arrived.
Clintonville police were busy throughout Wednesday with a range of routine and emergency calls across the city.
Officers handled several traffic-related incidents, including multiple stops on North Main Street, 12th Street, and Highway 156. A disabled vehicle was also reported near Highway 22 and Commercial Avenue late in the evening.
Police responded to three 911 calls during the day — one from Flora Way and another from North Main Street — as well as several ambulance runs, including to Clinton Avenue, 12th Street, and East 1st Street.
Other activity included business checks, extra patrols around Green Tree Road and Memorial Circle, and a truancy case near the high school area.
Officers also investigated an ordinance violation on Glendale Court, a stray animal on Brix Street, and an alcohol-related offense on West Green Tree Road.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled more than two dozen calls on Wednesday, ranging from minor traffic issues to welfare checks and suspicious activity across the county.
Deputies were called to the county jail early in the morning after an inmate damaged a tablet computer. Later, a suspicious vehicle was reported driving slowly along Hillcrest Road in Bonduel, but the driver was gone when deputies arrived.
Traffic kept deputies busy throughout the day — with hazards reported along Highway 29 near the Brown County line and a non-injury crash at the intersection of Highway 47-55 and Lake Drive in Shawano. A reckless driving complaint also came in from the same area.
Deputies conducted several welfare checks, including one in Birnamwood after a Lifeline medical alert was triggered with no response, and another in Bonduel later that afternoon. A dog bite was also reported at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano, though the animal’s vaccinations were up to date.
Other calls included a harassment complaint in Bowler, a 911 misdial in the town of Eland, and a disabled vehicle reported along Highway 29 near mile marker 223.
No major injuries or arrests were reported, though deputies did assist in an OWI case handled by the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department.
