SHAWANO, WI – For generations, the Tober-Steinke family of Shawano County has carried on the 4-H spirit, keeping the four-leaf clover at the heart of their family’s story. Lynn Tober-Steinke says it all began nearly 80 years ago, when her father joined one of the first 4-H clubs in Pella. When Lynn and her brothers Kenny and Kevin were old enough, they joined the Willow Creek Blue Jays, continuing a family tradition rooted in leadership, learning, and service.
Tober-Steinke says the lessons gained through 4-H, from teamwork to community involvement, have shaped their family’s values and inspired them to give back in creative ways. Today, those same skills play a big role in the family’s ongoing projects, including organizing popular local events like their Haunted Farm and the Pella Trail Rides.
“All of us in our family are in leadership roles in one way or another,” she says. For the Tober-Steinke’s, 4-H is more than a club, it’s a way of life that connects generations and strengthens the Shawano County community.
