SHAWANO, WI – Shawano County is preparing to say farewell to its administrative coordinator, James Davel, who has accepted a new position as the village administrator in Kronenwetter.
Davel’s final day with Shawano County is approaching quickly, as he is set to begin his new role on November 3. He has served as the county’s administrative coordinator for several years and previously led the county’s Emergency Management Department for three.
A retired U.S. Army colonel, Davel’s distinguished military career included deployments to Afghanistan and assignments in Kansas and Minnesota before he returned home to Shawano in 2018.
Davel had previously announced plans to step down from his county role in January 2026, but his transition to Kronenwetter comes sooner than expected.
