LANGLADE COUNTY, WI – Wildlife officials are confirming a string of wolf attacks on hunting dogs in Langlade County late last week.
On September 26, USDA-Wildlife Services verified that wolves killed three dogs and injured two more in the Town of Ackley. That same day, two additional dogs were killed in a separate incident. The following day, September 27, another dog was confirmed killed by wolves in the Town of Elcho.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding hunters and dog owners to be vigilant when entering wolf-occupied areas, particularly during bear training and hunting seasons when dogs are more at risk of encountering wolves.
More details, including an interactive wolf depredation map and a full list of past reports, can be found on the DNR’s website.
