8-Man Games on 9/26:
#2 Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas 36, Suring 6
The Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Wildcats kept their unbeaten season alive Friday night, pulling away from Suring in the second half for a 36-6 win at Lena High School. The victory moves Lena/STAA to 6-0 on the year, while Suring drops to 4-2.
Both teams traded defensive stops early, with Lena/STAA holding a slim 12-0 halftime lead. The Wildcats used a balanced rushing attack, with senior Max Peterson pounding out tough yards and junior quarterback Jake Farley adding a rushing score and a touchdown pass to senior Colt Miller.
Suring cut into the deficit with a third-quarter touchdown run from junior Kroix Kempka, who led the Eagles with 89 rushing yards on 18 carries and 55 receiving yards. But the Wildcats responded with 24 unanswered points, fueled by Peterson’s two rushing touchdowns and a late defensive score off a Suring fumble recovery.
Marion/Tigerton 56, Port Edwards 20
The Marion/Tigerton Thundercatz kept their winning streak alive Friday afternoon, powering past Port Edwards 56-20 in an eight-player football matchup. The Thundercatz scored early and often, exploding for 34 points in the second quarter to build an insurmountable halftime lead.
Junior running back Braylon Mielke put on a show, rushing for 137 yards on 10 carries and finding the end zone three times on the ground. He also added a 30-yard touchdown reception, finishing with four total scores.
Quarterback Shane Blum was perfect through the air, completing both of his pass attempts for 50 yards and a touchdown, helping Marion/Tigerton maintain a balanced attack.
The Thundercatz defense was just as impressive, forcing three interceptions and returning two of them for touchdowns. Senior Kole Johnson anchored the unit with 13 total tackles and a tackle for loss, keeping Port Edwards from finding any consistent rhythm on offense
With the win, Marion/Tigerton improves to 6-1 on the season, continuing their push toward a postseason berth and solidifying themselves as one of the top teams in the region.
Rosholt 48, #9 Tri-County 34
The Rosholt Hornets used a huge first-half surge to hand Tri-County its first loss of the season, taking a 48-34 victory Friday night in Rosholt. The loss drops the Penguins to 6-1, while Rosholt evens their record at 5-5.
Rosholt struck first and set the tone, outscoring Tri-County 26-16 in the second quarter to take a 34-22 halftime lead. Despite the Penguins putting up over 390 rushing yards as a team, Rosholt’s offensive efficiency and key stops on defense kept them in control heading into the break.
Senior Jake Makaryk was the workhorse for Tri-County, carrying the ball 36 times for 210 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns. Junior Gage Beggs added another score on the ground and led the team defensively with five tackles. Quarterback Aidan Brewer struggled through the air, finishing 1-for-6 with 19 yards and two interceptions, which stalled a few drives.
Tri-County cut the deficit with a third-quarter touchdown, but Rosholt answered to push the lead back to two scores. The Penguins managed just one more touchdown in the fourth quarter while Rosholt’s defense held strong, sealing the upset win.

11-Man Football on 9/26:
Oconto Falls 24, #10 Coleman 8
The Oconto Falls Panthers improved to 5-1 on the season with a hard-fought 24-8 victory over Coleman on Friday night, spoiling the Cougars’ homecoming. Coleman struck first with an early touchdown and two-point conversion to take an 8-6 lead, but Oconto Falls’ defense clamped down and pitched a shutout the rest of the way.
Junior quarterback Nathaniel White showcased his versatility, throwing for 199 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing score. Senior running back Isaiah Radart provided balance on the ground with 73 yards and a rushing touchdown. Senior receiver Elijah White stretched the field, hauling in three catches for 113 yards, including a key touchdown reception that gave Oconto Falls the lead before halftime.
After leading 12-8 at the break, the Panthers leaned on their running game and defense in the second half, tacking on 12 more points to secure the win. The defense kept Coleman from mounting a comeback, limiting them to just 101 rushing yards on 31 carries and intercepting one pass.
With the win, Oconto Falls keeps its momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season and strengthens its position in the conference standings. Coleman, now 4-2, will look to bounce back next week and stay in the playoff hunt.
Pulaski 42, Ashwaubenon 7
The Pulaski Red Raiders bounced back from last week’s loss in dominant fashion, taking down Ashwaubenon 42-7 on Friday night. The win moves Pulaski to 4-2 overall, keeping them firmly in the Fox River Classic Conference race, while Ashwaubenon falls to 2-4.
Junior quarterback Bohdan Schmidt put on a dual-threat clinic, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries and adding 62 passing yards with a touchdown through the air. Schmidt’s ability to break free on designed runs and scrambles opened up the Pulaski offense all night long.
Senior Gavin Sikorski provided the game’s longest passing play, a 29-yard touchdown reception, while Pulaski’s ground game as a whole racked up 330 rushing yards on 32 carries, averaging more than 10 yards per rush.
Pulaski’s defense dominated up front, holding the Jaguars to just 22 rushing yards on 21 attempts and logging 12.5 tackles for loss. Senior Sawyer Goodness led the charge with six tackles and three TFLs, while the Red Raiders’ secondary broke up seven passes and forced a fumble that shifted momentum early.
After taking a 21-0 lead into halftime, Pulaski kept their foot on the gas, outscoring Ashwaubenon 21-7 in the second half. The Jaguars’ lone score came in the third quarter, but Pulaski responded with back-to-back touchdown drives to put the game out of reach.
Crandon 54, Manawa 14
The Crandon Cardinals broke open with 54 points throughout 4 quarters rolling to a 54-14 victory over Manawa on Friday night. The win lifts Crandon to 2-4 on the season, while Manawa drops to 1-5.
Manawa’s defense, led by sophomore Wyatt Drath with 10 total tackles, kept Crandon’s high-powered rushing attack in check until the final period.
Senior Cruz Palubicki put on a dominant performance, rushing 24 times for 229 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding a 25-yard receiving score. Quarterback Nolan Bradley chipped in with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown, plus a passing TD to Palubicki.
Crandon finished with 476 rushing yards as a team, averaging nearly nine yards per carry, and converted six two-point conversions to put the game out of reach.
The Wolves finally got on the board late behind sophomore quarterback Carson Stroud, who threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Reed Schlueter led the receiving corps with 47 yards on three catches, but the late rally wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Freedom 40, Denmark 0
The Freedom Irish flexed their muscle Friday night, shutting out Denmark 40-0 on the road to move to 5-1 on the season. The win keeps Freedom near the top of the North Eastern Conference standings and gave the Irish their second straight victory since their Week 4 loss to Little Chute.
Sophomore Axzil Eggert powered Freedom’s rushing attack, carrying the ball 20 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns. The Irish racked up 279 rushing yards on 39 attempts, averaging over 7 yards per carry and punching in six rushing scores as a team. Sophomore quarterback Owen Henkel added balance through the air, completing 8-of-12 passes for 91 yards.
Freedom’s defense was relentless, holding Denmark to just 37 total rushing yards on 25 carries and forcing three-and-outs on multiple possessions. Sophomore Mason Van Groll led the charge with 5.5 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack, while the secondary snagged a key interception to snuff out one of Denmark’s few promising drives.
The Irish built a 20-0 halftime lead and never let up, adding 13 points in the third quarter and closing the night with another score in the fourth to seal the shutout. Denmark quarterback Zack Freeman was held to 61 passing yards on 3 completions and just 17 rushing yards, as the Vikings struggled to find any offensive rhythm.
Waupaca 28, New London 8
The Waupaca Comets broke through for their first victory of the season Friday night, defeating New London 28-8 on the road. The win moves Waupaca to 1-5, while New London also drops to 1-5.
Waupaca set the tone right away with a first-quarter touchdown and then added 14 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 21-0 lead into halftime. Senior quarterback Austin Adamczak was efficient, completing 13-of-19 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown while adding 37 rushing yards and a score on the ground.
Senior running back Kanye Bessman was key in closing out drives, rushing 21 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Erik Harms provided a spark in the passing game, hauling in five receptions for 76 yards to help keep the chains moving.
The Bulldogs avoided the shutout with a third-quarter touchdown from quarterback Cory Brooker, who ran for 73 yards on 20 carries and scored New London’s only points of the night. However, Waupaca’s defense came up with a critical interception and forced fumble to halt any chance of a comeback.
Seymour 33, Fox Valley Lutheran 13
The Seymour Thunder extended their win streak to five games Friday night with a 33-13 victory over Fox Valley Lutheran, improving to 5-1 on the season. Seymour jumped out to a 20-7 halftime lead and controlled the game from start to finish, using a strong ground attack to wear down the Foxes.
Senior quarterback Cayden Staffeldt was nearly flawless, completing 11-of-14 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Xavier Salzman was the difference-maker, carrying the ball 19 times for 81 yards and three rushing touchdowns, while also adding 77 receiving yards on five catches.
Seymour’s offense stayed balanced throughout the night, racking up 192 rushing yards and 199 passing yards while converting key red-zone opportunities to keep FVL at bay.
Fox Valley Lutheran junior quarterback Braden Heiges did his best to keep the Foxes in it, throwing for 168 yards and rushing for 66 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown run that provided a spark. Sophomore Levi Hermann led FVL receivers with 36 yards on two catches, but the Foxes were unable to sustain drives against Seymour’s disciplined defense.
The Thunder’s ability to win the battle in the trenches was crucial, as their 51 rushing attempts allowed them to control the clock and keep FVL’s offense on the sideline. Seymour also forced a fumble in the first half, which set up a short-field touchdown to help build their early lead.
#8 Little Chute 15, Wrightstown 13
The Little Chute Mustangs held off a second-half rally by Wrightstown to earn a gritty 15-13 road victory on Friday night, improving to 5-1 on the season. The win keeps Little Chute in the thick of the Northeastern Conference title race, while Wrightstown falls to 4-2.
Junior quarterback Jaden Hermsen got Little Chute on the board early, scoring on a 31-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. He later connected on a short touchdown pass to extend the lead to 15-6 by halftime. Hermsen finished with 57 rushing yards and went 4-for-5 passing for 31 yards with a score.
Junior running back Reece Joten was the workhorse for the Mustangs, carrying the ball 33 times for 147 yards and adding 5.5 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a key interception on defense to help seal the win.
The Tigers battled back in the third quarter, with senior quarterback Daniel Buntin throwing a pair of touchdown passes, including a 38-yard strike to sophomore Greyson Bosma to cut the deficit to two. Wrightstown’s defense forced several punts late, but the Mustangs’ defense stood tall in the fourth quarter to preserve the narrow win.
Little Chute’s ability to control the clock with 57 rushing attempts for 282 yards was crucial, keeping Wrightstown’s explosive offense off the field and limiting their possessions. The Mustangs’ defense delivered in crunch time, stopping the Tigers on their final drive.
Marathon 50, Weyauwega-Fremont 27
The Marathon Red Raiders rode a monster offensive performance to a 50-27 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont on Friday night, evening their record at 3-3. The win snaps a two-game skid for Marathon and sends Weyauwega-Fremont back to .500 at 3-3.
Marathon jumped out quickly with 14 first-quarter points and never looked back, leading 34-14 at halftime. Senior quarterback True Thurs was unstoppable, completing 16-of-21 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 99 yards and a score.
Junior Garrett Bracewell was Thurs’ favorite target, hauling in 11 receptions for 205 yards and all five receiving touchdowns, torching the Warhawks’ secondary.
Despite the deficit, Weyauwega-Fremont found offensive success of their own. Junior quarterback Carter Birdyshaw threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns, while senior running back Tinsae Rucks ran 13 times for 82 yards and two scores. Senior Bryce Magdanz contributed on both sides of the ball, leading the team with 91 receiving yards, a touchdown, and eight tackles.
