SHAWANO COUNTY SHERIFF
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office reports handling more than 30 calls for service on Wednesday, ranging from thefts to welfare checks and traffic hazards.
Deputies were called to a storage unit in Pulaski after a woman found her lock cut off and items missing. She told investigators she suspected someone she knew, and deputies are reviewing the case. Later in the day, a vehicle reported stolen was located abandoned along Highway 156 near Shiocton.
Several welfare checks were also logged, including an 86-year-old Shawano woman whose medical alert alarm was activated but no one could make contact, and an elderly driver in Cecil who appeared confused and couldn’t find her vehicle. Another welfare check in Leopolis involved a referral from county human services to make sure a woman was safe.
Other calls included an illegal burn spotted along Highway 29 near Bonduel, a suspicious pair of vehicles parked for more than an hour in Wittenberg, and a load of debris discovered dumped along a rural Shawano road creating a traffic hazard.
In addition, deputies assisted Clintonville police with returning a juvenile to their home. Stockbridge-Munsee officers responded to a medical assist and a separate 911 hang-up call in Bowler.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that while most calls are resolved quickly, each report helps ensure community safety.
SHAWANO POLICE
Shawano Police handled a busy Wednesday, starting before sunrise with a suspicious-activity call after a resident’s kitchen camera pinged movement at her East Richmond Street apartment while she was at work.
A short time later, officers cleared a 911 butt-dial at Walmart and followed up on repeated barking-dog complaints near Swan and Lafayette.
Mid-morning, police responded to a workplace incident on East Richmond where a recently terminated employee allegedly made a threatening remark before leaving; the building was secured and a citation was later delivered.
School-related calls included a juvenile issue at Olga Brener Elementary and a routine school-liaison assist.
Around noon, officers took a shoplifting report at Charlie’s County Market, then investigated a property-damage crash involving a car and an excavator on East Richmond, no injuries reported.
Another homeowner reported homecoming-week mischief: two nights of TP, mustard in the mailbox, and a vehicle left unlocked with lights switched on.
Later calls ranged from a man reportedly crawling on the trail near South Main, to animal-noise complaints on South Hamlin, to a welfare check for a child reported possibly in danger.
Evening activity included a suspicious-vehicle report near the tennis courts with reports of shouting and door slamming, a fire assist at Parkside Apartments, and a check of people seen with flashlights inside the fenced area by the high-school football field.
Shawano Police say most cases were resolved without incident, but encourage residents to keep reporting concerns as they see them.
CLINTONVILLE POLICE
Clintonville Police reported a lighter call volume Wednesday compared to neighboring agencies.
Officers assisted EMS on Moh He Con Nuck Road in the Stockbridge-Munsee area just after noon, responding to a medical emergency alongside ambulance crews. Later in the evening, they investigated a 911 hang-up call from Putnam Lane in Bowler, which turned out to be accidental with no issues found.
Police say both incidents were cleared without further problems, but they remind residents that even accidental 911 calls tie up emergency lines and resources.
